This is not a smart movie, in fact it's a pretty dumb one. Still, given the source material I'd say the writers did an okay job. It's considered by many to be one of the best movies derived from a video game.
When you go to watch this just remember, you're watching a dumb movie where you get to see live action versions of Mortal Kombat fights. That's what the movie is for and it does a decent job at it. It's a stupid martial arts movie, but Scorpion is still a badass and some of the terrible jokes are actually pretty funny. So give it a shot, and load up an old copy of Mortal Kombat to remember the old days when it was edgy still.
